Mix 3 ounce witch hazel extract and 1 ounce rose, lavender or sandalwood water. Add 30 - 40 drops of a mixture of essential oils. Choose from lavender, eucalyptus, lemongrass, cedarwood, rose geranium and citronella essential oil. Add 5 drops of green tea extract. 'Damiana Delight' A great herbal tea for a summer day. 1 tablespoon each of the following herbs: chamomile, damiana leaves, lemongrass, spearmint leaves; 1/2 tablespoon grated orange peel. Combine herbs in two cups almost boiling water. Infuse for 5 - 10 minutes. Serve warm or iced.
Medicine Bag Class Like many ancient people, Native Americans believe that all things are spiritually connected & should be honored & respected; every animal, plant & thing that we come in contact with has lessons or healing & inspirational powers to impart to us if we only take the time to receive them. Make a medicine birth bag containing colors, herbs, gemstones & other energy items. Class program & materials are included in the $20.00 class fee. THIS MONTH IN THE GARDEN July is the month to solarize your vegetable garden. Use summer heat as a tool to prepare your vegetable garden for fall planting. It takes 4 - 6 weeks to kill weeds, disease and nematodes. See University of Florida's 'Florida Vegetable Garden Guide' If planting vegetables now try cherry tomato, okra, sweet potato and yard long bean. Flowers to plant this month include ageratum, butterfly plant, cat's whiskers, celosia, coleus, impatiens, lantana, moon flower, pentas, periwinkle, portulaca, sunflower, torenia and ornamental peppers. July herbs include anise, basil, bay, chives, dill, ginger, Mexican tarragon, mint, oregano, sage, marjarom and thyme. Bulbs to plant in July include lily, gladiolus, and society garlic.
